Sum of the interior angles of a hexagon?
A normal-level "Angle" problem.The formula is 180 × (corners − 2). The "− 2" is simply the number of triangles you get when you cut it up.
Hints
- You don't need to remember the formula — you can build it by cutting the shape into triangles. First pick one corner.
- From that corner, draw straight lines to every corner that is not next to it.
- The hexagon is now 4 triangles — always two fewer than the number of corners.
- One triangle's angles add to 180°, and there are 4 of them, so 180 × 4 is the answer.
