Area of the rhombus?
A normal-level "Area" problem.Any quadrilateral whose diagonals cross at right angles (rhombus, square, kite) obeys this same formula.
Hints
- A rhombus's area is decided by nothing but the lengths of its two diagonals.
- Think of the rectangle that fits snugly around it: 8 cm tall and 10 cm wide.
- The diagonals split the rhombus into four right triangles.
- Fold those four outwards and they fit the gaps perfectly. So the rhombus is exactly half the rectangle.
- So 8 × 10 ÷ 2 — "diagonal × diagonal ÷ 2".
